Nashville Trip #5

On Sunday night (9/23) mom and I left for Nashville with a quick stop at the studio to record some new songs. On Monday and Tuesday we attended songwriting classes from NSAI's "Songposium". It was a terrific time of learning and networking.
It's also a great time of ministry since many of the people in the music industry are not saved. One songwriter that we are especially praying for is Jeffrey Steele. I don't have his picture posted, but in January he lost his 13 year-old son and I don't think he has Christ in his life to carry him through. It really touched him when he heard that we have been praying.

"Ladies Love Country Boys"
This was one of Rivers Rutherford's #1's this year. On Tuesday evening at the #1 Celebration. Here I am with Rivers Rutherford and a new friend and songwriter, Mindy from New York.

"I've Been Watching You"
Here's Brian White at the #1 Celebration. He is a Christian and shares his faith in his songwriting.

James Dean Hicks (originally from Bardstown, KY) and Marc Beeson performed at the Tin Roof on Tuesday after the #1 Celebration.

Here I am with James Dean Hicks after a great songwriting class by him and his co-writer Tim Johnson.

Shane was on the Publisher's Panel on Monday. He's originally from Cinncinatti, OH. He's the Creative Director of Ole Publishing.

Cowgirls

These two country chicks was a-pickin' a fight,
singin' all day n' fightin' all night;
waitin' fer Sheriff n' Deputy Fife,
To wake from their slumber and help make things right.

Zzzzz...

They stopped and they pondered the reason they fought,
And found that each liked things the other had bought.

And so all this fighting and hissing like cats,
halted at once when they chose to switch hats.

Music on Sunday

I left on Monday Sept. 10th on a last minute trip to Maryland to visit the Stinnett girls and help them write a song before John's surgery. I was able to spend 8 days in Maryland which enabled me to visit my grandparents and other friends. Here we were performing special music at the Nursing Home after church.

Baking with the Stinnett's

Making "In Memory of 9-11" cupcakes for the church fellowship meal

...one sprinkle at a time...

Here we are making brownies to freeze for the Stinnett's New York trip. Amy gave me the challenge of breaking an egg with one hand as fast as I could. I did it...

Ooops!

A Peek Around the Yard

All around the yard bright flowers peeked out to welcome mom home on Thursday. She arrived on Wednesday night and we were all very ready and waiting for her return.

Here are some of the flowers that grace our backyard. This flower bed can be seen from the dining room window.

More bright blooms

Cara's Quick Trip to MD, DE and PA

I drove from Philadelphia, PA to Tracy's house in Dover, DE. Then from Tracy's house to the hospital and still didn't know that this car was a convertible! Tracy enlightened me and we had lots of fun.

Dad had surgery on Aug. 31. I arrived on Saturday morning expecting that he would go home on Saturday. Instead he was admitted to ICU where he stayed until Tuesday. I spent all of my time between staying with dad at the hospital and helping mom at their house. He's getting stronger every day.

Tuesday afternoon (Sept. 4). We're off to Sam's (with the top up) to get prescriptions filled and then home to rest.

Tuesday evening my cousin Joyce invited me to visit Charles and Barbara Leager. Barbara has been diagnosed with stage four lung and bone cancer.

This is Joyce and Charles in Gail's kitchen. Barbara is staying at Gail's home (her daughter).
